Why Micro-Mobility?

Micro-mobility includes bicycles, scooters, roller blades, skateboards, and any mobility device with a small form factor that travels less than 30 mph. Often, they are human-powered. Users love the convenience, affordability, health benefits, traffic avoidance, and sustainability of micro-mobility.

Convenience

40% of trips made in the U.S. are less than two miles, a perfect distance for micro-mobility. A bicyclist would take about twelve minutes to make that trip. Rather than fighting traffic and searching for parking, many people find it easier to bike to their destination.

Affordability

Motor vehicles involve a variety of clear and hidden costs, from vehicle maintenance to the infrastructure and land use costs of parking lots and roadways. While some costs are structural and shouldered by taxpayers, others can be mitigated with small vehicles.

Health

All of the leading causes of early death in the United States involve stress and sedentary lifestyles. Choosing to bike for short trips could improve your health and well-being, reduce your chronic disease risk, and reduce your environmental impact.

VisiCycle aims to challenge outdated perceptions about bicycles and micro-mobility by offering affordable, high-quality, and convenient safety products that encourage people to move rather than be transported.

Safety

When considering whether to use micro-mobility, many people hesitate due to road safety concerns. These concerns are warranted, and policy work is needed for construction of better safety infrastructure, like bike lanes and mixed-use paths.

Engagement

While we push for future road safety improvements, VisiCycle hopes to engage and encourage micro-mobility users today. Designing and selling safety products allows us to support ourselves as we move toward our vision.

Policy and Advocacy

At VisiCycle, we recognize that policy change requires civic engagement and action by citizens. VisiCycle will donate a portion of profits to advocate for bicycle safety and accessibility.

Work Process

01

Community Engagement

Through digital channels and at events, VisiCycle brings together mobility enthusiasts to learn about mobility challenges and work toward solutions.

02

Product Innovation

Most similar organizations primarily approach mobility challenges through policy and advocacy work. VisiCycle instead begins with a product-focused problem solving framework.

03

Advocacy Funding

Visicycle also recognizes the importance of policy work for infrastructure development. In the future, VisiCycle aims to provide funding for local organizations that advocate for micro-mobility safety and accessibility.
